The Very Vintage Day Out (VVDO) is one of the highlight events for many of us in New Zealand that are interested in Vintage, Retro, Pinup, or Rockabilly.
I’ve compiled a few top-notch reasons why you need to primp those outfits, smooth back that pompadour and roll your best victory rolls so read on… and get excited!
1. Miss Pinup New Zealand 2016
As always, the ever so popular Miss Pinup New Zealand competition will be held just after 3PM at the main stage. I’m really looking forward to seeing what all the lovely women bring to the stage this year, as well as who I get to pass the next Runner Up title on too. If you haven’t voted for your favourite gal for People’s Choice then do so at the link above.
Grab a seat early, this competition is always a busy time at the Very Vintage Day Out.
There’s always a range of stalls to make your way around and this year will be just as awesome. There will be stalls selling home-wares, art, fashion, accessories, food and more. I’m looking forward to swinging by Curvy Couture by Judy Dee, BellaVintage, MadeWithLoveNZ and Parry’s Tea for high tea and tea tasting workshops.
I’ll also be heading to the Glory Days stand because they’ll be debuting their next issue which may or may not feature yours truly…
3. Photo Safari
The photo safari is always a morning highlight. This is a great opportunity to work with local photographers – practice your posing, have some fun with friends, check out the classic cars and caravans while adding some images to your portfolio. Head outside to the classic cars around 10.30am to get assigned to your photographers.
4. New Competitions
Up-cycle competition – recycle all those amazing fabric scraps you’ve kept and make something truly spectacular. This is an awesome chance to show off your creativity so make sure you get involved with this one. There are some seriously amazing prizes up for grabs too including a one-on-one fashion mentoring session with Dani from Devel Branded. She’s the creative force behind THESE custom rockabilly inspired outfits.
Bake-off competition – I’ll be inspecting and drooling over your baked goods and with two categories (Birthday Cake and Pies) there will be some serious taste testing going down. There are some awesome prizes up for grabs including delicious goods by The Gluten Free Store (I have tried a few of their products and can happily say you NEED to try em’ ) so get involved in something different on the day! there’s a $5 entry fee for this one.
5. The #Artncake stall
Miss Lily Kate and I will be holding our first Art n’ Cake stall selling just that – beautiful artwork and delicious cakes. Make sure you swing by our stall (you won’t be able to miss it). We’re situated to the left of the doors leading out to the bleachers. A prime place for selling you some prime products.
Bring cash + your eye for some fabulous artwork + your rumbling tummy.
