Birkenhead is a great suburb to start in for Auckland Op Shopping. This suburb is where I spent a ton of my teenage years. Northcote College is a short walk down the road so the Birkenhead shops were always the after school destination for food and hanging out.
A great place to start is with the big Salvation Army store on the corner. It’s right next to KFC, and used to actually be a Cash Converters back in the day. Every time I go in there I find countless items, it seems to be a good place to find jewellery and skirts… they also have TONS of kitchenware and I often find little bits and pieces to add to my collection.
I would suggest, the free parking in the Highpoint Shopping Mall car-park and walking your way around these shops. In between the last two shops – stop at the cute Gelato Workshop store on the corner (next to the roundabout) and grab a delicious gelato on the way to your last shopping destination.
