SweetAs Cakeaway are here for your weekend cravings! Picture this, it’s Saturday night, you’re watching movies at home and you’re craving a sweetie treatie but can’t be bothered making anything, or going out to get it.
OK, I basically just described every single weekend of my life. Thankfully, Auckland now has it’s very own treat delivery service – SweetAs Cakeway! They serve all sorts of tasty cheesecakes, shakes, brownies, and other little treats to curb your sweet tooth.
Unfortunately, at the moment because they are still so small and starting out – they are only able to do North Shore deliveries. They are definitely wanting to expand throughout Auckland so watch their website for updates! I actually went over to my mums place on the shore just so I could test these treats out.
Here’s what I tasted, and my thoughts:
Cheesecake – $6.90
Nutella Cheesecake – Favourite cheesecake by far, Ferrero Rocher crushed on top was absolutely perfect. Filling was nice and cold, but creamy. Base was really yummy as well.
Tim tam cheesecake – Yummy biscuit topping, filling flavours were really good.
New Yorker – simple, tasty but very plain compared to the other flavour offerings. I liked the biscuit base but feel like it could be a tad thicker.
Shakes – $6.90
Banana shake – really thick, used real banana, nice and cold, good size drink.
Oreo shake – nice and cold, full of flavour, didn’t have big chunks of Oreo that gets stuck in the straw it was nice and smooth.
Brownie – $4.90
Peanut Butter Chocolate Brownie – gooey, good size portion, cute touch with the Reese’s cup on top. Rich but not over-bearing, and the walnuts inside were a good touch for texture.
The SweetAs Cakeaway concept is simple:
- Craving? Check out the menu online
- Place your order by calling them or messaging them on Facebook on Saturday or Sunday night from 6pm onward
- Patiently wait for your treats to arrive
Delivery is $3.00 or free if you’re spending over $30.00, you just pay by cash or Eftpos once your delivery arrives. They currently aren’t offering Gluten/Dairy/Vegan free – but again, keep an eye out because they are still a young business starting up. Everything for our order arrived nice and cold, and Luke (the owner) was bang on time with our dessert order.
My recommendations: A salted caramel cheesecake needs to be on the menu as well as something citrus. Everything was quite chocolate based, which is fine because I love chocolate. A little more variety would be amazing though.
In a nutshell it was a really enjoyable treat to have delivered and everyone that I shared it with in my family thought it was great . I will definitely be placing more orders with them once they are delivering to the Auckland Central suburbs.
