Veronica Lodge – that jet black hair, red lips, killer style and sassy attitude. She nails it every time.
She’s one of the raven haired characters I grew up reading in Archie comics. Of course, my own personal style also took inspiration from Snow White and Betty Boop as well. To me, glamour was always about the inky black hair and rich red lips. It will is in a way, although I can appreciate all types of glamour. This was a particular ‘look’ that I was always attracted to.
When I first found out about the Netflix show ‘Riverdale’ I got really excited! I couldn’t wait to watch all my favourite Archie characters on TV (non-animated!).
I have a few Archie comics as well as some issues from the Betty and Veronica series. I found more while I was in the United States on holiday earlier this year too. One of my favourite things to do when I get a new comic is to open it up and flick through the pages quickly looking at Betty and Veronica’s outfits. Only then do I go back through and actually read it. Did you know the first Archie comic was released in December 1941?
The two main love interests of Archie are Veronica Lodge who was sassy, opinionated and has killer style, she’s cast as the spoilt rich girl. While her lovely, caring BFF Betty Cooper is the sweet, girl next door.
I thought I would create a few inspired by looks from a few Archie comics.
If you’re an Archie fan like me, you would have heard ‘Sugar, Sugar‘ by The Archie’s which was released in 1969. A band made up of the teenagers from the ‘The Archie Show’ on TV – watch the video clip it’s hilarious.
The Netflix series ‘Riverdale’ has caused a resurgence in everything Archie which, to be honest, I’m pretty happy about. You can also check out Betty and Veronica clothing for ‘inspired by’ items. I like the jackets myself!
I couldn’t stop myself from doing the last Veronica Lodge look, it needed to happen.
