I love true crime and I love murder. So naturally, when I stumbled across the podcast ‘My Favorite Murder’, I died of excitement.
Deep… we went deep real fast. But that’s just how I am! I can’t help it. I’ve been obsessed with True Crime for at least the last 15 years. Obviously, it’s got more and more intense over the years but I love learning about it, especially cold cases. If you’re a fan of true crime, then you’ll understand that when you come across someone else who loves it – you’re instantly friends. You have this invisible connection for all things gross and it’s awesome. It’s like a big, weird family and it’s wonderful.
“Get a job. Buy your own shit. Stay out of the forest.”
Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, the podcast hosts are two comedians in Los Angeles. They are so funny, energetic, crass and are both amazing storytellers. I love listening to them and the interesting cases that they talk about. I also love the funny banter that happens before each episode. I feel like I’m friends with them, they’re just my kind of people. Do you love the header art above? (They’re outlined in chalk) – Created by the talented Michael Ramstead.
“Pepper spray first, apologise later.”
They put out a new podcast every week and also have an extremely active Facebook group of the same name. They call their listeners ‘Murderinos’ and their Facebook group moderators are ‘Murderators’. You love it… don’t deny it.
They finish off every podcast by saying ‘Stay sexy, don’t get murdered’ and it makes me smile every time #SSDGM
They have a huge cult following, and because they come up with such hilarious quotes between themselves – fans often turn these quotes into items. I’ve seen patches, cushions, cell phone covers, t-shirts, compact mirrors and SO MUCH MORE. They’re huge, and I love it.
“Toxic masculinity ruins the party again”.
Here is the Spotify link if you’re interested in listening to this awesome podcast. If you like true crime and hilarious banter, then I’m sure you’ll love these two. Georgia also has a cat called Elvis, and he often meows into the microphones. I’m sure you’ll be hooked on My Favorite Murder in no time.
“Here’s the thing, fuck everyone”.
