Its July already, which means we’re already half way through 2018 and halfway to Christmas.
When my friend Matt got in touch about doing a photo shoot I had a good think about what I wanted to blog about and suddenly remembered I had the perfect midwinter glamour outfit. My vintage red velvet dress which I purchased from Retro Addiction. I found it in the middle of Summer 2017, when it was far too hot to wear and had completely forgotten I owned it.
It’s finally cold enough to wear this beautiful 3/4 sleeve dress so I took it for its first outing in Auckland.
It was an extremely cold morning, and I had to chisel ice off my cars front windscreen before leaving in the morning. We were adamant on capturing the sunrise at the Auckland Domain and it was more than worth it.
I paired this deep ruby coloured dress with vintage shoes which I purchased from Vixen Vintage on K Rd, a pair of silver sparkly clip on earrings to match my dress buttons. I took a navy blue hat and gloves along as well as my coat for a different look (and extra warmth).
The dress has the most intricate diamante buttons, and came complete with a matching velvet belt. I was so happy to find the belt was included and hadn’t been lost along the way like so many vintage dresses I come across.
We spent the early morning trying out different spots in the domain, playing in fog and walking through crunchy leaves before capturing the most incredible sunrise at the Auckland War Memorial.
I can’t wait for my next shoot with Matt, he was professional and a pleasure to work with.
