Zealong Tea Estate – High Tea Review

Zealong Tea Estate – High Tea Review
The Zealong Tea Estate is a peaceful oasis away from the bustle of Hamilton.
My friend Jaimee and I took a road trip down to the mighty Waikato to meet our mutual gal pal Monique and experience the Zealong Tea signature high tea. I was so excited to finally test it out. The last time I went to the Zealong Tea Estate was a few years ago, and only to do the tea tour.
When you arrive, the walk to the estate through a winding path decorated with historic plaques and statues really sets the scene. I love learning the history of tea in New Zealand, I highly recommend taking the tea tour if you can.
Once inside, we were shown to our gorgeous table on the back deck. Hamilton really turned on the weather for us, blue skies as far as the eye could see. It was perfect to sit outside and enjoy the rolling green fields around us. We began by choosing which tea we wanted, I went for the Zealong Breakfast tea while Monique and Jaimee opted for the Lady Gatsby blend. To choose your tea, the staff will bring out a gorgeous box full of fresh loose leaf tea where you can smell, and learn about which tea suits your taste buds best.
We were served beautifully presented sweet and savoury treats, and I couldn’t wait to tuck in. The bright orange citrus macaron was a highlight all round. I would love to know their secret of how they got it to taste so zingy and fresh.
I decided to grab myself a packet of the Lady Gatsby tea to enjoy at home – it’s a green tea blend with rose petals, woody manuka and cinnamon. I saved it till midway during my work week and it was a real treat.
As we were leaving we couldn’t resist a few photos at the gorgeous rotunda out the back of the Estate. When visiting, definitely go for a walk through the cute side garden, and check out the rotunda.
I can’t wait to go back again, it’s easily one of my favourite places to visit when I’m down that way. I’m so happy to finally add this high tea to my list!
